Our Social Mission
Thin Raft is a Community Interest Company helping disadvantaged people build their skills and self-worth by providing training, knowledge and hands-on gardening expertise.
Thin Raft opens opportunites for personal growth through therapeutic gardening, mentorship and developing a gardening community.

Our Clients
Private Commissions
We are engaged by a number of private clients to provide gardening services at a pre agreed price with all profit being used to finance the part time horticultural training of young adults.
Community Projects
Thin Raft also aspires to engage with larger groups in community and school settings in pursuit of our Social Mission, supported financially by grant funding and donations.
Our Approach
Our garden allotments are safe spaces for our clients to experience meaningful work and to feel valued individually and as part of a team. Our approach is more person-centred and less goal orientated. The gardens belong to our clients to develop at their pace, to their design and with their choice of plants. Our role is simply to teach good horticultural practice and provide encouragement and support. Our projects are active not passive, they are about involvement, engagement, feeling connected and belonging.
